Sidus HQ CEO Chung Hoon-tak has been cleared of charges of cloning actress Jeon Ji-hyun's mobile phone and tracking her phone calls and text messages, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office announced Thursday.
"We carried out a rigorous investigation of Chung's possible involvement in the crime, but could not find any concrete evidence of his direct involvement," an official at the prosecutors' office said.
Chung was charged by police in February over his hiring of an unlicensed private detective identified as Kim in November 2007 to clone Jeon's cell phone to track her text messages. Chung alleged paid Kim W6.4 million for the work, and Kim is currently arrested.
