The life of Korean weightlifting champion Jang Mi-ran, will be made into a film under the title of "Lifting King Kong." Jo Ahn will play the part of an innocent girl from countryside based on the 2008 gold medalist and has been adjusting her diet and exercise to gain the required heft.

"I had hard time making myself big, because even though I gained weight, it wasn't so visible," she admits. She eats instant noodles every night before the shoot and a lot of chocolate during the day.

Jo was at the center of a media storm recently when her romance with fellow actor Park Yong-woo was discovered. "When I told him that I took the part and that I have to gain weight for the role, he was very supportive and asked me to do the best I can for the role," she said. Asked if it was a hard decision to gain weight, she said, "Of course I'm a woman, and I would love to look pretty. But I think as an actress, I should look best for the character."

"Lifting King Kong" is a comic drama looking at the lives of weightlifters in a girls' high school, and is slated for release in June.
