The AP reported Wednesday that the U.S. birthrate in 2007 broke all previous records.
According to a report released by the National Center for Health Statistics, 4.32 million babies were born in the U.S. in 2007, breaking the record of 4.3 million set in 1957 at the peak of the 'baby boom' period.
The birthrate per woman also averaged 2.1, recording a new all-time high. Although women in all age groups are having a growing number of babies, teen birthrates increased for two consecutive years. An average 42.5 babies were born per 1,000 women aged between 15 and 19 in 2007. 39.7 percent of the babies were born to unmarried women.
An increasing number of thirty and forty-something women want to have offspring without marriage life.
