Korean Scientists Discover Diabetes Treatment Using Leukemia Medicine

Korean medical scientists have discovered a way to treat patients with a certain type of diabetes by administering a drug mainly used for combating leukemia.

Scientists at Samsung Medical Center in Seoul found a new treatment mechanism that uses an anti-blood cancer drug called Gleevec, which the hospital says also helps reduce the leading causes of Type-2 diabetes.

There have been reports on Gleevec's potential to treat diabetes but this is the first time scientists have proved the drug's effectiveness.
