Nuclear Activist Named Woosong University President

    The renowned anti-nuclear weapons activist John Endicott has been appointed president of Woosong University in Daejeon. Endicott (72) became vice chancellor of the SolBridge International School of Business at Woosong University in September 2007. His four-year term starts in January.

    After graduating from Ohio State University, Endicott worked at Georgia Institute of Technology for over 20 years as a professor and director of the school’s Center for International Strategy, Technology and Policy. He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 for his efforts to stop proliferation of nuclear weapons, including launching the Limited Nuclear Weapons Free Zone for Northeast Asia campaign in 1991.

    The SolBridge school offers courses in English taught by renowned academics from around the world. It has over 200 students from 14 countries. Endicott pledged to attract 1,500 foreign students in three years and bring in 60 foreign experts to make the school one of the best in Asia.
