Seo Tai-ji Roped in for GM Daewoo Commercial

      Seo Tai-ji is to promote a car in a TV commercial to coincide with the release of his 15th anniversary of his debut late last year.

      According to his agency Seo Tai-ji Company, the singer was chosen as the model for GM Daewoo's new car Tosca Premium 6 and finished filming the commercial outside Seoul. The agency claims the ad highlights the "pioneer and progressive spirit and enthusiasm" that the singer and the car represent.

      The ad shows Seo playing the piano, based on a belief by the advertisers that his "sophisticated but dynamic playing style makes people feel as if they are driving a car." The singer re-arranged the background music for the ad himself. Seo has made a habit of appearing in ads whenever he released new albums or went on concert tours. In 2000, he appeared in a W1.5 billion ad for sports wear brand Pro-Specs (US$1=W949).

      In 2003, he earned W3.2 billion by modeling for telecom provider KTF. In 2005, he received W1.5 billion from shopping mall Space 9 by appearing in its ad. He is known to have made at least W1 billion for doing the car ad this time. His eighth album is slated for release in March or April.
