TV anchor Paik Ji-yeon is stepping out to model Korean traditional clothes. She is slated to take the stage during a fashion show as part of the opening ceremony for the Korea Brand Power, HAN expo running at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) from Sept. 28 to Oct. 1.
This event is jointly sponsored by the ministries of culture and tourism, of commerce, industry and energy, and Gyeonggi and North Jeolla provinces. But Paik will not be the only beauty gracing the stage. Actress Kim Hye-lee and six years' worth of Miss Koreas will also be there to help show off the beauty of hanbok. The models will be sporting evening dresses among other garb produced by Korea's top hanbok designers Lee Young-hee, Greta Lee and Kim Jeong-ah.
The hanboks of designers Kim Hye-soon and Paik Seol-heon, who are well-known for their designs of Royal Court clothing and attire worn during tea ceremonies, will also be featured. The Korea Brand Power expo has been organized over the last three years by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and is focused on marketing and internationalizing the idea of Korea. The project is to codify Korean cultural commodities such as hanbok, Korean food, Korean traditional paper, the Korean alphabet or Hangeul and Korean traditional music as brands.
