Grand National Party Chairwoman Park Geun-hye could return home as early as the weekend since she is recovering faster than expected from a knife attack that left her with an 11cm long wound to her face. Park Chang-il, the president of Yonsei University’s Severance Hospital in Seoul said Monday he will decide whether to discharge the opposition leader on Saturday. He will make the decision after removing some 60 stitches to her wound on Thursday and watching her progress for a few days.
Even after discharge, Park will need treatment for six months. “She will have to come to hospital once a week for the first three weeks after discharge, and then once or twice a month for up to six months,” a hospital official said.
The GNP chairwoman is reportedly recovering her psychological equilibrium fast. “She seemed calm when she came to the hospital after the incident, but she wasn’t really,” the hospital’s president said. “But she looked stable yesterday and seems to stabilize rapidly now.”
