The Environment Ministry will implement new regulations this month to lower the volume of unwanted noise, from construction sites to music academies and even karaoke joints.
As part of such measures, soundproof walls will be built to protect apartment complexes from noisy highways.
Construction sites will have to reduce noise levels from 70 decibels to 65 decibels on holidays, while the number of late-night flights will be restricted. Penalties will face those who break the rules.
Ministry officials say the efforts come in response to public complaints about noise pollution, which have risen four-fold in the past five years.
