58-year-old Kim Kyong-hui, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il and head of the light industries section of North Korean Workers' Party Economic Policy Audit Department, received treatment in Paris, France for alcohol dependency and psychological disorders, Japan's Tokyo Shimbun reported Friday, quoting multiple sources familiar with North Korea.

One source said that while it was unclear when Kim went to Paris, he had information claiming it was this summer, and she returned to Korea early this month following treatment. The source added that it's unclear whether she is still ill.

Along with her husband, the Workers Party's organization and guidance department first vice director Jang Song-taek, Kim was considered one of Kim' Jong-il's closest aides; the North Korean leader is reported to have instructed that his sister be treated just like him.

The paper pointed out that with the recent death of Kim's wife, Ko Yong-hui, and the suspension of duties that befell Jang Song-taek, the power structure in North Korea has grown even less clear.
