Wang Yeong-eun, a popular TV personality until she quit the public life in 1994, returned to the studio Sept. 20 to host the KBS 2 radio program "Hello, This is No Ju-hyeon and Wang Yeong-eun." The program airs from 9:05 a.m. to 11:00 on FM 106.1. Many celebrities, such as Kang Bu-ja, Kim Su-mi and Eom Aeng-ran, have hosted the program, which has been popular among housewives.
For the past 10 years, Wang has lived a regular life as a mother taking care of her children. She received job offers from broadcasting companies from time to time, but refused them courteously since her family wanted her to stay home. She thought she was retired for good.
But as her two children, Jun-ho and Su-min, got older, Wang began to have some time to spare, so she finally accepted an offer. Wang thought that with her own experience, it would be a great help for her to host the program, and make it more lively and comfortable for other married women. She feels more confident now, and is getting encouragement from her family and friends.
Still, Wang said she finds hosting the show a little burdensome, after being away from the spotlight for so long. She listens to and monitors other radio programs whenever time permits, she said. She wants to honestly share her story as a normal housewife and a mother, and thereby create a program that can evoke the listeners' sympathies.
