Dano Folk Festival Celebrates Traditional Lore

In honor of Dano, "a day for celebration and amour," on June 15, the Dano Folk Festival will be held for two days until the 16th at the Namsangol Korean Traditional House Village.

On Dano, women wash their hair in water scented with changpo, an iris-like plant, for soft hair and to ward off ill health, and a traditional cauldron will be prepared for this.

Various folk games including swinging and ssireum, traditional Korean wrestling, can also be enjoyed. Folklorist Shim Woo-sung will hold a lecture and there will be various events including fan-making, making Dano amulets, performances by five traditional music artists, a hanbok fashion show and making rice cakes.

Children can ride on a cart pulled by a cow around the village.
