Muju Becoming Global Tourism Complex

Many people love snow as it not only turns the land into a beautiful white world but also provides a lot of activities and with the ski season in full swing, Muju, just two- and-a-half-hours drive from the capital is fast becoming a hot getaway spot both among locals and foreigners. Skiing is full of speed and thrills, but to spice it up more people can ride on one of the lifts that takes them to the top of the mountain for a bird's eye view. For the pros, it's heaven, but for first-timers, perhaps, learning to fall would be a good practice to start off with.

Recently, there has been a full-fledged war between skiers and snowboarders, a combination of skateboarding and skiing. Quickly earning its place in winter sports, Muju is accommodating that trend with some great spots to skid off the icy cover.

"Many people, most avid fans of alpine skiing, gather here in Muju to take advantage of the great facilities we have to offer and this, the snowscooter is just one of the many fun things to use," said one instructor.

It's a contraption that's basically a snowboard attached to a mountain bike, very attractive to those on the lookout for something new. Muju is the only place you can try out this new snow stunt and so it's no wonder tourists are flocking to the resort.

"I think the best thing I like is the view because this is the first time for me to see the snow. Muju is a nice ski station. The snow is good and the weather also is very, very nice," commented a visitor.

But when the sun goes down and the lights come on...the snow begins to glitter... turning the mountain into a venue of fantasy for those night skiers who are out to enjoy what the evening has in store for them.

Once a remote mountain village, Muju is now emerging as a global tourism complex. Also planning to enter the bid to host the 2010 Winter Olympic Games Muju hopes it'll secure its position on the tourism map as a mecca of sports and scenic settings for the global community.
