Singer Baek Ji-young held a press conference on Wednesday after the release of a video containing images of her engaged in sex with her former producer spread nationwide and started to cause much dispute among Korean netizens, people who saw the video and her fans.
Baek stated she had no knowledge of the latter part, which brought the whole matter into question, ever being taken and that she had not agreed to the recording of the film in the first place. The 23-year-old woman said she will take legal action against the person who released the tape. Baek's lawyer, Choi Jeong-hwan said Baek will sue the former producer for defamation.
Through a statement read by Choi, Baek revealed she got much help from the former producer and it was true she filmed the interview at the first part of the tape several times. However, Baek strongly argued the producer then continued to behave irrationally such as not giving her the exclusivity fee as mentioned in her contract.
The singer apologized for bringing up the matter as a public figure and although she was ashamed as a woman, she decided to hold the press meeting to prevent similar occurrences to happen again in the future. About two minutes after Choi started reading the statement, Baek broke into tears and showed signs of uneasiness throughout the five minutes her lawyer delivered her position to the media.
Meanwhile, IStar, which had planned Baek's concert for December 9th and 10th, announced the concert will be postponed until December 24 but that it will be held at the Fencing Gymnasium at 5:00 p.m., after which Baek will suspend her activities as a singer in Korea for a while.
