The commercial vehicle division of Samsung Heavy Industries has had to suspend production since October 1 due to delayed import of engines. The division said Friday that new emissions regulations have necessitated the use of different engines which are not expected to be delivered until next March, making for a six-month shutdown. Japan’s Nissan supplies the engines. The division specializes in large-scale trucks of 15-tons or more and a plant in Taegu has been rolling out 500 dump trucks and transport trucks annually. SHI has been trying to sell off the division for the past few years without much success.
