Smog to Blight Korea's Christmas

Toxic smog is expected to blight Korea's Christmas, with fine-dust pollution at unhealthy levels over the festive season.

Fine dust or 2.5 particulate pollution reached "bad" to "very bad" levels across the country on Sunday, the National Institute of Environmental Research said.

It said levels will continue to be bad across the country except eastern Gangwon Province on Monday and Tuesday, especially in Seoul and other inland areas. In the Chungcheong provinces pollution will continue on Christmas Day.

Otherwise the weather will be fine nationwide on Christmas Eve but cloudy and rainy on Christmas Day.
