BMW sold the most cars among foreign brands in Korea in November, taking the top place in monthly sales for the first time in six months ahead of Mercedes-Benz.
The Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association said Wednesday that there was a 15-percent increase on-year in the number of newly registered imported cars last month at 22,266.
BMW topped sales with 6,827 followed by Mercedes-Benz (6,296), Toyota (1,345), Lexus (1,113) and Land Rover (1,052).
"Customers now have a wider range of choices with the expansion of the 5 Series lineup," said a staffer at BMW. "We sold over 4,000 5 Series cars, which helped us reclaim the top position in monthly sales."
In terms of cumulative sales until November this year, Mercedes-Benz led the imported car market with 64,902 cars sold ahead of BMW with 52,817. Both companies enjoyed a sales hike by 28 and 23.9 percent, respectively, from the same period of last year.
Lexus came in third with sales of 11,294 cars, followed by Toyota with 10,660 and Ford with 9,840.
