Speed skater Lee Seung-hoon won the men's mass-start race on Thursday to claim his fourth gold medal at the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Obihiro, Japan.
He became the first Korean to bag seven gold medals in the Asiad, after grabbing three gold medals in Astana, Kazakhstan in 2011.
In the mass-start event, all skaters start at the same time and complete 16 laps of a 400-m track. Lee finished first out of 11 skaters in a time of 8:12.72. Shane Williamson of Japan won the silver medal and Kim Min-seok took the bronze medal.
Viktor Ahn of Russia, born Ahn Hyun-soo in Korea, held the previous record for most gold medals at the Winter Asiad with five.
Lee performed strongly despite an injury to his right calf, which required eight stitches after he fell at the ISU World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships in Gangneung, Gangwon Province earlier this month.
