The first sunrise of 2016 will be seen at 7:26 a.m. on Korea's easternmost islets of Dokdo, the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute said Tuesday.
Five minutes later the sun rises over the mainland at Ganjeolgot Cape and Bangeojin Port in Ulsan.
Seongsan Sunrise Peak on Jeju Island and Jeongdongjin, Gangwon Province are the two favorite spots to watch the first dawn of the New Year, and there it can be seen at 7:36 a.m. and 7:38 a.m. Over Mt. Nam in Seoul the sun will rise at 7:46 a.m. and over Haeundae Beach in Busan at 7:31.
The ultimate sunset of 2015 can be seen at Gageo Island off the coast of South Jeolla Province at 5:39 on Dec. 31.
