The number of Japanese visitors to Korea has decreased substantially in the last year, primarily due to the depreciation of the yen.

Statistics Korea said that 2.7 million Japanese tourists visited in 2013, down 22 percent from the previous year.

Conversely, the number of Koreans traveling to Japan continues to surge, with over 2.3 million travelers having visited the country last year, up 21 percent from 2012.

In May alone, 228,000 tourists visited Japan, a 45 percent jump from the same month one year earlier.
