Weather at Olympics Opening Won't Be as Cold as Feared
Temperatures are expected to range from -5 to -2 degrees Celsius in the Olympic Plaza during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang on Friday evening.
The wind chill factor will bring that down to -10 degrees, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration on Wednesday.
But that is still better than the -15 to -10 degrees at last Saturday's rehearsal, which made organizers fear the worst.
Snow is expected in some parts of Gangwon Province from early morning Saturday, when the day's high in the mountainous region is forecast to be around -1 degree and the low -10 degree. Some outdoor events like biathlon, ski jumping and cross-country skiing will take place on the day.
