The junior Kosdaq broke the 800-point barrier on Tuesday, the first trading day of 2018, for the first time in a decade.

The Kosdaq closed at 812.45 points, up 1.76 percent from the previous session.

The last time the index rose above 800 points was in November, 2007.

The main KOSPI Index also closed up 0.49 percent at 2,479.65 points.
