The International Olympic Committee reaffirmed on Thursday that North Korea is still eligible to participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang although the U.S. re-designated North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism early this week.


The IOC said in an interview with Radio Free Asia that countries' right to participate in the Olympics are protected without discrimination.


The IOC reiterated that North Korea has the right to join the Olympics under the Olympic Charter.
