Foreigners Hold 1/3 of Korean Stock Market
More than one-third of the total value of the Korean stock market is held by foreign investors.
According to the Korea Exchange, offshore investors own about US$520 billion worth of stocks on the KOSPI and the Kosdaq, accounting for more than 33 percent of the total.
Foreign ownership of stocks reached its peak on July 21 this year at some $550 billion before dropping. On the KOSPI alone, foreign investors hold more than half of the shares in the electronics sector.
