Kim Yu-na Unveils Commemorative Coins for Pyeongchang Olympics
Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yu-na unveiled commemorative coins for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang at an event held by the organizing committee in Seoul on Thursday. Kim is a promotional ambassador for the quadrennial event.
The coins can be ordered at 10 financial institutions including Kookmin Bank, Industrial Bank of Korea, NH Bank and Shinhan Bank, as well as post offices, from Monday to Oct. 7 and will be distributed on Dec. 5-9.
The limited-edition coins are available in four types: 4,500 sets of W30,000-denominated gold coins (each coin is worth W2.96 million), 15,000 sets of gold W20,000 coins (each worth W1.52 million), 200,000 sets of silver W5,000 coins (each worth W62,000) and 71,000 sets of brass W1,000 coins (each worth W22,000) (US$1=W1,105).
The coins feature Korea's traditional skiing and the ski jumping facility in Pyeongchang.
