Many Schoolkids Complain of Sexual Harassment
A significant number of schoolkids complain of sexual harassment from their peers.
A survey by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of 1.37 million elementary, junior and senior high school students in January and February this year shows that around 1,500 students suffered verbal sexual harassment or groping.
"Many students are exposed to sexually explicit material at an early age due to the Internet and develop a strong curiosity to mimic the things they see," said Kim Geon-chan, head of a center for prevention of school violence.
"If a youngster is sexually harassed, the victim suffers from shock and shame and becomes extremely vulnerable to attackers."
