Almonds: A Healthy Winter Snack
The new year has flown fast towards the end of January, and already many may have given up on their ambitious resolutions. Perhaps they could replace them with the more modest goal to eat more almonds.
Almonds are healthy. They are rich in monounsaturated fat that lowers the cholesterol level and vitamin E that helps maintain healthy nails and hair during the dry winter season. Flavonoid, which is abundant in the skin of almonds, is a powerful antioxidant that blocks free radicals attacking the body cells.
Almonds are the ideal winter snack at a time when dry and cold weather seems to accelerate the aging process. The nuts taste better when roasted in the oven or fried in oil because that increases their aroma and crisps the chewy texture of raw almonds.
It is a good idea to stock up on almonds to get you through the winter, which is getting longer due to climate change.
